Have you ever thought about taking a class just for fun? The middle of the winter is a great time to consider taking a class. There are so many classes being offered that we can take advantage of both in our area and through the internet.

We can take classes on a variety of hobbies. Quilting, knitting, woodworking, oil painting, egg decorating. Perhaps you have wanted to make a quilt or build a table but you need someone to take you step by step through the process. Joining a class can get you well started on your project and you’ll make new friends along the way.

Maybe you need some practical classes for your business or personal finances. There are classes offered for an hour and a half or a 15-week semester on a variety of topics from an introduction to the computer to accounting, personal budgeting to investment strategies. Perhaps you would like to sit down with someone to figure out a family budget for an hour. You can also take an accounting class for credit at a local college to put towards a business degree.

Or maybe you really want the accountability of an exercise class. There are so many places that offer weekly classes in zumba, aerobics, yoga, kick boxing, tennis, swimming, and many more options. Maybe this is the year to try ballet or tap dance. Do you want to learn to ski or snowboard? Sign up for a lesson.

Don’t forget to check with the local churches to see what classes and groups they are offering. You can join book groups, Bible study classes, parent and child groups, budgeting classes, and exercise classes.

How about classes intended to make parenting smoother? There are a variety of parenting classes available for parents of infants, preschoolers, elementary age, pre-teens, and teens. Classes can be 4 weeks, 8 weeks, or weekly from September to June. They are offered in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. There are new classes beginning now.

So, what would you like to learn this year? Have you been saying for years that you need to have a good workable budget? Have you been thinking you would love to take a computer class? Have you always wanted to take a parenting class but never got around to signing up? Stop putting it off, figure out one thing you want to do this year and make a plan to do it. Get a friend to join you in a class. Have fun with it. Stop thinking about it and sign up for a class today. You’ll be glad you did.
